The fall season is in full swing! On November 20th, feast your eyes on the perfect pairing of a 16-course Jukusei omakase and various whiskey options at XOXO Sushi Bar in Chestnut Hill, MA. Our 16-course omakase menu has been carefully created and crafted by our one and only executive chef, Kegan Stritchko! Join us on November 20th for an evening of culinary elegance and timeless whiskey pairings that take omakase tasting to the next level.

Why Omakase & Whiskey are the Perfect Pairing

Omakase and whiskey go hand in hand because they are both significantly rich in umami. For those unfamiliar with umami, it translates to “delicious savory taste” and is one of the five basic tastes, along with sweet, sour, salty, and bitter! Most whiskeys, like scotch, complement the several high-quality textures and flavors in omakase, enhancing the overall omakase tasting experience. Certain whiskeys are prone to igniting fish flavors and rice from the first sip! Whiskeys on the lighter side are an excellent match for sashimi and nigiri, while whiskey options on the heavier side pair best with grilled and torched Japanese dishes that contain oil.
